Another tree는 캐나다 대사관 앞 보호수의 ‘자연적 감성’과 나무루버의 ‘인공적 패턴’과의 조화를 통해 만들어진 또 다른 나무이다. 나무의 생동감을 구현하기 위하여 목재의 단면을 픽셀로 정의하고, 이를 통해 부드러운 면을 만들어내어 나무감성을 이끌어 낸다. 2*4규격목재만을 이용한 홈파내기와 세로방향의 쌓기 방식으로 형태를 만들고 밀도를 조절함으로써 다양한 공간을 구현하였다. 이 공간들은 주변의 흐름을 받아들여 자연스럽게 쉼터, 게이트, 마주치는 공간이 된다. 이는 곧 주변과 함께 호흡하며 다양한 사람들이 쉴 수 있는 대사관 앞의 또 다른 나무가 될 것이다.
'Another Tree' is motivated by the nurse-tree in front of Embassy of Canada in Seoul and pattern of the wooden louver from the building. It harmonizes the natural sensibility and the artificial sensibility from them. The competition required using only basic structural lumbers, so the shape is pixelated to consisting fluent surface with adjusting the length of lumbers. 'Another Tree' is also planning to be constructed with piling only 2X4 lumbers with cutting grooves without nails. The spaces reflect the contexts of the area : the movements of pedestrians into gate, benches and exhibition wall. As a result, 'Another Tree' would be not only another symbolic tree but also a pavilion for taking a rest in the busy city for people.
